So… as you probably already have read, we finished the National Juniors Team Championships U18 as CHAMPION!
It was a great week, with hard matchesbut we won every match, without finally losing one… Congratulations to the OLIMPIA TEAM, it did a great job, defending its title from 2007!
Tzitzi (captain), Andreea and Veronica i think it was a great experience to play your last tournament as a junior… good luck in seniors next year, hopefully, we will be able to defend our title next year too!
Bianca, Ema and Cami I would like to congratulate you all for playing with love for the team, we could see this especially in Bianca’s matches, as she is a real fighter…
I would like to support Elena, she is the youngest in our team, we played together a doubles match and I liked the way she was playing. She needs to gain more game-experience and to work hard, but I think that she could a have a “future that sounds good”. Good luck Elena!
What can I say about me? Although it might be not very obvious, I learnt a lot during these past two weeks. What I learnt, is not especially about tennis, is more about life, people, and teams… it is hard to build a team of individualists… each has its own friends, its own enemies, but everyone wants to win… When you play in a tennis team championship, you have not to think that you play for yourself, you shouldn’t be thinking maybe, that you play tennis enymore, you have to think that you are doing a team sport, like handball. It doesn’t matter what you want to do as a person, it does matter what the team wants… and the team wants to win… although it might heart you…
And in the end, I would like to encourage the boys team, that didn’t defend its juniors title, but they did a great job in seniors, where they took the bronze medal. Well done boys!
