Bogdan takes the Roland Garros junior doubles trophy

For the second year in the row Elena Bogdan qualifyied in the final of the Roland Garros Junior Championships, this time in the doubles one alongside Noppawan Lertcheewakarn from Thailand.

Nominated as the seeds number two Elena and Noppawan met the team Sina Haas(GER)/Magda Linette(POL) in the first round ( 63, 63 victory ) and in the second round the team Irina Kromacheva(RUS)/An-Sophie Mestach(BEL) winning with 63,57,10-3. In the quarterfinals the seeds number 7 Beatrice Capra/Lauren Embree from USA were the opponents, another victory being obtained with 61, 64. The semifinal was played against a tougher team from Rusia - Yana Buchina/Ksenia Pervak, seeds number 6, an encounter decided in the supertiebreak with the final score 61,46,10-4.

The final of the doubles competition gathered on the court four players from four different nations, the team Timea Babos(HUN)/Heather Watson(GBR) coming onto court for winning the final match. After an intensive and tough two sets and one supertiebreak, Elena Bogdan and Noppawan Lertcheewakarn won the throphy with 36, 63, 10-8.

The 2009 Roland Garros Junior Championships Throphy belongs to Elena Bogdan.
