Ioana Raluca Olaru and Olga Savchuk of Ukraine won their first ever doubles career title on the WTA tour winning a closely contested doubles final at the at the 10th edition of the Tashkent Open a Sony Ericsson WTA tour event being played at the Olympic Tennis School Tennis Courts.
The winning pair of Olaru and Savchuk scarped past the pair of Nina Bratchikova of Russia and Kathrin Woerle of Germany 5-7, 7-5, 10-7 in a close encounter. They received the winner purse of $6,760 and 115 points, while runners-up had to be content with $3,670 and 80 points.
"Were both very delighted winning the doubles event here, we wanted to win and we won", said an elated Savchuk after the match.
"I have always enyoing playing doubles, having played doubles and winning the junior doubles at US Open a couple of years ago and reaching the finals of a WTA event at Budapest this year, but winning my first title feels great", added Raluca.
Asked how difficult it was to play both the singles and the doubles events at a tournament, Raluca added "were still young and can handle events, its different game and also helps in singles".
"We re both good friends and will surely thinking of playing more tour event doubles in future ", added Savchuk when questioned whether the pair would continue to play in future too.
