[12 August 2008]

National Tennis Center from Bucharest will organize starting 14 august an international tennis event for wheelchair tennis.

Olimpia Bucharest has the plasure to announce you that it will be an event where you can see an other side of tennis and few of the players who will compete in Paralympic Games in Beijing and encourage you to come to fill the crowds.

Ioana Alecsiu, a representative player in Olimpia Tennis Team participated few weeks ago in a training camp held in Bragadiru ( full story on her blog section at: http://olimpiatenis.ro/bloguri/ioana-alecsiu/motivation.html ) and she revealed the following:

It was organised a competition after that camp where Ioana participated as a volunteer and the first two players at the end received a WC to compete in the tournament who starts on 14 august.

"Everybody were laughing and expected to start the tennis session as quickly as possible. I started with easy gymnastics movements after they ran two laps and I continued with some excercises longways cones ( the training program I already discussed with Roxana, their coach ). I realized I was nervous at the beginning, but after a while everything was ok and I started to play with them taking the balls from the basket. There were 6 girls and 8 boys and we practiced the volley and the serve and after almost 2 hours and a halfI realized that the practice was finished. Unbelievable what optimism and smilimg faces they were displayed during the whole training."

They have a lot of problems in every day with the materials needed to move on, but each of us can help with rackets, balls, grips ( used, not new ones ) and moral support. For contact visit www.motivation.ro or email at contact@olimpiatenis.ro

We are waiting you starting 14 august in National Tennis Center!
