The last Grand Slam of the year starts at New York: US Open.

The US Open first round begins Monday, Aug. 25, but until then on the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center the qualifying event is scheduled as 128 men and 128 women battle it out for places in the year’s final Grand Slam.

The 2008 US Open Qualifying Tournament – one of the largest tennis tournaments in the country – begins Tuesday, Aug. 19, and runs through Aug. 22.

There are 32 final entries for the 2008 US Open singles draw at stake, divided between 16 men and 16 women.

Raluca Olaru will play in the qualifying draw this year being the seed number 15.

In the juniors event, Elena Bogdan is on the main draw acceptance list and she will accomodate with the conditions in Canada alongside ITF Team where she will play a Grade I ITF Juniors tournament before competing in US Open
