C.S. Olimpia Bucuresti, founded in 1948 with official attestation in 1904, is part of the elite sports club in Romania. The organization's mission is to produce champions attire athletes and exemplar personalities, and I proudly mention that along years the club has formed a gallery of athletic individuals such as Olympic champions, European champions, as well as Balcan champions and National Champions. The club has 16 different sports sections under its direction, one of which it's tennis. Only few years old, this section showed a sturdy, aggressive and promising appearance. Its outstanding national and international results make it stand out among all other sections and among all other Romanian tennis clubs. Moreover, it gives hope to its incoming and existing players to reach their best potential and become Romania's best tennis players.
Some remarkable name wearing the white and blue colors of Olimpia are Andreea Iova and Andrei Savulescu, last year's national champions, but it gives me a great pleasure to recognize the entire team of juniors that claimed the gold medal at the National Team Championships, as well as the National Team Championship's runner-up at seniors: Alexandra Cadantu, Elena Bogdan, Camelia Hristea, Veronica Popovici, Ioana Alecsiu, Cristian Tanase, Vlad Cirla, Andrei Savulescu, Patrick Grigoriu, Robert Coman, Sergiu Margarit (2007 Juniors National Team Champions), and Alexandra Cadantu, Andreea Iova, Elena Bogdan, Raluca Ciulei, Camelia Hristea, Ioana Oprea, Veronica Popovici (2007 runner-up, Women's National Team Championships).
I am pleased to announce that at the same time, a new valuable athlete, Raluca Olaru, hopes to join the rest of the team in maintaining our place in the elite top ranks of Romanian tennis. I, together with all other members of C.S. Olimpia, I am honored to have her in our team.
I would like to congratulate the enthusiastic, passionate and professional activity of our head coach, Ovidiu Popescu and of its assistant, Alexandru Ghita. Their hard work, the help of parents, school professors, sponsors and the club's efforts to offer financial support and two tennis complexes for practices (Baza Iancului and the courts from Vitan Stadium), made possible the very good results obtained so far.
Warm greetings for this extraordinaire initiative, and I end with the traditional white and blue cheer:
"Come on Olimpia!"
