Wimbledon draw - as it happened

[19 June 2010]

Every tournament has it's own story, but when we reach the Wimbledon chapter nothing seems to be a simple story. In the following lines you can read the draw ceremony as it becomes a trully tradition:

"Good morning everyone, and welcome to the All England Lawn Tennis Club! The 2010 Championships get under way at 12 pm BST on Monday, but before then - in a few minutes time in fact - we have the draw for the men's and women's singles tournaments! Reigning champions Roger Federer and Serena Williams are top of the 32 seeds in each draw, and then after that we have another 96 players. These come from direct acceptance (i.e. their ranking was high enough at the cut-out point a few weeks ago), qualifiers (16 men, 12 women), wild cards (five men and seven women ranked somewhere between 100 and 300 whom the tournament organisers think deserve a shot at a first round match, and maybe more) and then lucky losers - the highest ranked players who lost in the final round of qualifying and who replace people who pull out due to injury at late notice.

You can follow the draw live as it happens right here" (the full story of this article).

Speaking about the Olimpia's presence in Wimbledon we have to anounce that Raluca Olaru will play in the first round of the singles draw against Alize Cornet from France!

Good luck Raluca!
